Health & Safety

A Practical, Risk-Based Approach to Temporary Traffic Management

At T and T Traffic Management, health and safety is not a box-ticking exercise — it is the foundation of everything we do. We are committed to protecting our people, our clients, and the public by applying practical, well-considered safety controls that reflect real-world conditions on site.

We hold Tōtika and SiteWise Gold accreditation, demonstrating that our health and safety systems meet recognised industry standards and are independently assessed. These accreditations support our commitment to continuous improvement and robust safety management across all projects.

Moving Toward a Risk-Based Approach

The shift toward risk-based traffic management places greater emphasis on identifying, assessing, and managing real risks on site, rather than relying solely on prescriptive rules. This approach recognises that no two sites are the same and that effective safety outcomes come from informed decisions made by competent people.

At T and T Traffic Management, we fully support this shift. Our focus is on applying risk management principles that are practical, defensible, and appropriate to the level of risk present.

Risk Management Micro-Credential

To support this approach, our team hold the Risk Management Micro-Credential, strengthening our capability to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective controls. This training aligns with the direction of the evolving NZGTTM framework and ensures risk management is actively applied — not just documented.

Ongoing Training & Competency Framework

We do not believe in training someone once and leaving them to it.

Our internal training and competency framework ensures staff maintain competency and compliance over time. This includes:

  • Regular refresher training

  • Ongoing competency assessments

  • Site-based mentoring and supervision

  • Clear performance expectations and accountability

This approach ensures our team remains capable, current, and confident in applying both compliance requirements and practical risk controls on site.

Supporting Contractors Under NZGTTM

As the industry transitions to the New Zealand Guide to Temporary Traffic Management (NZGTTM), we understand that increased emphasis on risk assessments and site-specific decision-making can feel complex.

Our role is to make that process straightforward.

We work closely with contractors to:

  • Identify and assess site-specific risks

  • Develop practical, compliant traffic management solutions

  • Ensure documentation is clear and fit for purpose

  • Reduce administrative burden where possible

By managing the complexity of traffic management and risk assessment, we allow contractors to focus on delivering their work — confident that risks have been identified, assessed, and controlled.

Our Commitment

Health and safety is not just a requirement — it is a responsibility we take seriously.

We are committed to:

  • Maintaining strong safety systems backed by Tōtika and SiteWise accreditation

  • Supporting clients through regulatory and industry change

  • Delivering practical, risk-based traffic management

  • Remaining actively involved from planning through to completion

At T and T Traffic Management, strong safety outcomes come from experience, competence, and accountability — and that is what we bring to every site.
